LASA Council has several Sections that play a valuable role in facilitating the delivery of the LASA Mission: ’To advance scientific understanding and knowledge of the use, care and welfare of laboratory animals and promote refinement, reduction and replacement’ as well as meeting our charitable aims of education and disseminating good practice across the year.

We are seeking applications for convenors for some of our Sections. The Sections we are recruiting for are outlined below.

  • Care, Welfare, Husbandry and Facility management (formerly Care and Welfare)
  • Education, Training and Ethics Section (ETES)
  • Genetically Altered Animals (formerly Animal Science and Transgenics)
  • Innovations in Animal Science and the 3Rs (formerly 3Rs)
  • Large Animal Research Network (LARN)

Section convenor roles provide a great opportunity to help shape the future of laboratory animal science in the UK and elsewhere. Therefore, we would actively encourage all LASA members to consider whether they might have the experience and commitment to take on one of these roles.

As part of the application, we invite candidates to submit a short CV (no more than one page) and a personal statement of up to 250 words that details what you believe you will bring to the LASA Section you are interested in. If there are more candidates meeting the criteria than there are positions available, all applications will go forward for selection by the LASA executive and where appropriate the current section chair(s). Proposed new Section members will be agreed at full Council and will then be put forward for ratification at the AGM in November.

The closing date for receipt of CVs/personal statements is Tuesday 18 June 2024
